I am a couple and family therapist and doctoral student with anticipated graduation in 2024. I'm passionate about  any opportunity to help individuals and systems foster understanding and growth to self-determination and collaboration to create a more compassionate and equitable society. 

My clinical and research focus is on the intersection of religion/spirituality with relationships, trauma, marginalized communities, especially that of the LGBTQ+ community through my work in the University of Iowa LGBTQ+ Counseling Clinic.

I have experience with teaching secondary education and undergraduate students in virtual and in-person settings. I love the opportunity to engage students in a collaborative learning environment that not only shapes their future in the mental health  field but also in their everyday lives and relationships. 

As a nontraditional student, I have had the opportunity to have had life experiences and a focus on family relationships through staying at home with my four children in their youngest years of development.  This has given me perspective that has enhanced my learning and insight to the my clinical, teaching, and research efforts.
